ENT Services

The James J. Peters VAMC Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery is a comprehensive service for the diagnosis and treatment of all medical and surgical diseases within the head and neck. Additionally, our department offers facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery for our patients by board certified facial plastic surgeons.

Our department specializes in:

  • general otolaryngology disorders
  • head and neck oncology
  • sinonasal and anterior cranial base tumors and infections (by open and minimally invasive techniques)
  • otology (ear) and neurotology (lateral skull base) tumors and infections
  • tinnitus, loss of hearing and balance with rehabilitation
  • facial plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • disorders of voice and swallowing
  • allergy and immunology neurologic diseases of the head and neck

Audiology Services

  • complete range of audiologic and vestibular assessment and rehabilitation
  • hearing aid fittings, adjustment and repair
  • comprehensive balance disorders lab including vestibular rehabilitation
  • tinnitus assessment and management program

Speech-Language Pathology Services

Speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions including speech, voice, fluency, spoken language comprehension and verbal expression, swallowing, attention, memory and cognition. Speech-language pathologists also work with Veterans who have had surgery for laryngeal, pharyngeal or tongue cancer. In addition, we provide the evaluation, selection and training of augmentative and alternative communication devices for Veterans with degenerative neurological disease, stroke, spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury.
