Women Veterans


Available on the 3rd floor; Suite Suite 3A-200. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Some evening and weekend appointments available depending on the provider. (718) 584-9000 ext. 4624/5301. Women Veterans receives Comprehensive Primary Care that includes gender-specific care during your annual visit. Comprehensive Care includes: Preventive Health Screening (breast and pelvic exams, Pap smears, HPV testing); Treatment of Disease (Diabetes, Cancer, Hypertension, Cholesterol, Colorectal, Coronary Artery Disease). Referrals to specialty care services is available.


Available on the 3rd floor; Suite 3E-400. Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. 8:00am-4:00pm. (718) 584-9000 ext. 6787/6786. Gynecological care includes breast and pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening, reproductive health consultation, contraception, management of menopausal symptoms, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), surgical consultation and procedures, evaluation and referral for infertility intervention (excluding in vitro fertilization), referral for obstetrical care and to specialty care services for gynecology oncology and gynecology urology as needed. Although a referral for obstetrical care is needed, we provide onsite maternity care coordination including care calls and a maternity care package is ordered for eligible pregnant women Veterans. A Lactation Room is available in Suite 3E-400 to all women who need a nurturing and safe space to breast feed or to use for other lactation needs.


Offer screening mammograms on site in the Radiology Department, Suite 2D. If other types of mammogram services are required such as an ultrasound, diagnostic mammogram, breast MRI or breast biopsy, appointments are made once a consult is submitted from a patient’s primary care doctor. Other Radiology/Nuclear Medicine services are provided within the Medical Center and appointments are scheduled through the Imaging Department in Suite 2D, ext. 6557.


Available in Outpatient Mental Health Clinic- OPD 3rd floor (3B) Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM, (718) 584-9000 ext. 6607. Services include social work intervention, psychological counseling, military sexual trauma (MST) screening and treatment, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), psychosocial assessment, substance abuse services (SAS), clinical support group, case management, psychiatric care and evaluation, suicide prevention services, couples counseling and support group for spouses and partners, readjustment group and counseling, intimate partner violence/domestic violence screenings and referrals and others vital services.


Available on the 9th floor in room 9A-06 Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM, (718) 584-9000 ext. 5872. Services include seamless transition for returning service women and men to receive primary care assignment, combat assessment, mental health screening, health coverage and benefits, and extensive assessment for services hospital wide.

Women Veteran Program Managers are available at each VA Medical Center nationwide to assist women Veterans and coordinate services. Women Veterans who are interested in receiving care at VA should contact the nearest VA Medical Center.

Women Veterans are assigned to a designated Women’s Health Primary Care Provider who can provide general primary care and is specially trained or experienced in women’s care.

  • Maternity and newborn care (first 7 days after birth)
  • Osteoporosis screening and management

Gynecology Health Services

Evaluation and treatment for:

  • Abnormal Pap test
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Infertility
  • Pelvic pain
  • Gynecologic cancers

Mental Health

Evaluation, counseling, and treatment for:

  • Depression, mood, and anxiety disorders
  • Alcohol and drug use and addiction
  • Coping with illness
  • Intimate partner violence/sexual and domestic abuse
  • Military sexual trauma (MST)
  • Parenting and caregiver concerns
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Stress adjustment from deployment

Specialty Care

  • Management of chronic or complex conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and fibromyalgia, as well as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis
  • Surgery programs available at most Medical Centers
  • Rehabilitation, homebound, and long-term care VA referrals are given to those in need of rehabilitation therapies, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy
